Low-E Glass

High energy efficiency and low thermal conductivity (Low-E) energy glazing can significantly improve energy consumption and help reduce heating and cooling costs. This way you can reduce energy consumption and electricity bills.

Saint Gobain Planitherm

Planitherm energy glasses are Saint Gobain’s latest development and are certified for their improved performance. They incorporate the latest developments in thermal insulation technology increasing the energy properties of the glass.

Planitherm, also known as 3rd generation soft coated energy glazing, is extremely neutral in both transmission and reflection and offers a high level of light transmittance, maximizing the entry of natural light into the building. Their energetic properties are due to an advanced microscopic metal coating. Planitherm energy double glazing offers up to 3 times better thermal insulation than simple double glazing.

Energy-efficient windows, depending on their function, are divided into two basic categories: “2-season” and “4-season”. In general, the “2 seasons” prevent the transmission of thermal radiation in one way, while the “4 seasons” both ways.

Planitherm XN

Planitherm XN are “2 season” energy glazing. They reflect heat from radiators or fireplaces back into the room, rather than allowing it to escape through the windows while at the same time allowing heat and even more light from the sun to pass through the glass, warming our home and contributing further in the energy efficiency of our windows during the cold months of the year.

Planitherm XN energy glasses are more suitable for windows that are not exposed to strong sunlight and usually for areas of N. Greece and other mountainous areas where the sweet heat of the sun is desired during autumn and spring.

Planitherm 4S EVO

The “4 seasons” Planitherm 4S EVO energy windows are the evolution of the older Planistar and keep the interior of your home at the ideal temperature all year round. They reflect heat from the sun outwards and reduce glare from direct sunlight during the summer months while also reflecting heat from radiators or fireplaces back into the room during the winter months. That is, they prevent excessive accumulation of heat in sunny weather and at the same time maintain internal heat during cold periods. Thus they reduce the costly use of both air conditioning for cooling and heating media for heating.

Planitherm 4S EVO energy glazing is more suitable for windows that are hit strongly by the sun as well as usually for areas of S. Greece and islands where high temperatures outweigh the cold and the intermediate seasons of Autumn and Spring tend to eliminate.

A combination of two energy glasses can be done in the case of triple glazing. 3 panes with gaps between them significantly improve both the thermal insulation performance of the energy glazing and the overall sound insulation properties of the glazing. We can combine either two energy “2 seasons” or one “2 seasons” and one “4 seasons”.

Glazing Spacers

In thermal insulation in Energy Glass, whether double or triple, the spacer plays an important role along with the glass. A spacer is the profile that “runs” around the glass pane and keeps the various panes at a certain distance from each other.

Glazing Spacers

In thermal insulation in Energy Glass, whether double or triple, the spacer plays an important role along with the glass. A spacer is the profile that “runs” around the glass pane and keeps the various panes at a certain distance from each other.

To avoid inductive heat transfer from one glass to another even when they are not in direct contact, the distance between them should be at least 16mm. Anything less than this reduces the thermal insulation provided by the glazing, as heat is inductively transferred from one pane to another.

Aluminum spacers

The most widespread spacer used in Greece is the classic aluminum spacer, which is highly heat-conductive. This means that around the perimeter of the glass the temperature is completely different than in the middle.

Thus we have significant losses of heat and energy, while at the same time in large differences in internal and external temperature, moisture condensates are created around the perimeter of the glass, causing the glass to sweat and locally to show mold.

Thermal spacers Warm-Edge

In Rolloplast’s energy glasses you will find only Nanobar heat spacers. Nanobar spacers are made of high-quality nanotechnology thermal break material, coated externally with a stainless film for better retention of Argon gas without leaks. They offer perfect thermal insulation, improved sound absorption, particularly low PSI Σλd and Ψ values, stability, rigidity, perfect shape, resistance to ultraviolet UV radiation, etc. This reduces heat loss from the perimeter of the glass providing up to 1000 times better thermal insulation than aluminum spacers and improving the overall efficiency of Energy Glass by 40-50%.
